WHO WE ARE
Bearaxe was founded by Josh Baltaxe and Barry Winestock, who met while completing their graduate degrees in Mechanical Engineering and have been friends and partners ever since.
Josh Baltaxe
Josh is a dreamer in every sense of the word and possesses a deep knowledge of suspension, two wheeled contraption design, the bicycle industry & product development. The kind of knowledge that, once he gets excited, leaves you wondering how you're still listening 137 minutes later. But that imagination & expertise also translates into him being an extremely competent engineer & innovator. He loves nothing more than to take wild ideas and turn them into practical, beautiful products for people that are as excited about it as he is.
If he's suddenly missing, you'll usually find him deep in the San Bernardino Mountains, tearing down a dirt trail at transonic speeds on his downhill bike with one of the many suspension systems he's designed.
Barry Winestock
Barry is a kind-hearted fellow that looks a bit rough 'n tumble around the edges. Barry excels when prototyping his creation by hand or carefully designing them with his engineering prowess and keen eye for aesthetics, turning them into solid, repeatable works of art. He has had success engineering for projects such as Redbull Stratos, NASA's Deep Space Network, Emory Motorsports, the Deep Space Atomic Clock and Mars 2020- just to name a few. His passion is in making motorcycles fun and modern, while maintaining their classic look and feel.
When let loose, Barry is often found high in trees perfecting his hobby of wildlife photography, immersing himself by taking the form of one of his favorite animals, a koala bear.
